The remains of a Sligo man have been recovered from the base of the destroyed south tower of the World Trade Center in New York.

Kieran Gorman, a construction worker in his thirties, was in the tower when it was hit by a hijacked airplane on September 11th.

A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman confirmed today the remains had been found and they were in contact with Mr Gorman’s family.
