Rouen - Scientists warned parents yesterday that smoking and high room temperatures increased the likelihood of cot death, the mysterious syndrome that kills tens of thousands of infants a year.
At a medical conference in Rouen, northern France, re searchers expressed satisfaction that infant mortality from cot death had plummeted in recent years as parents learned how to lay their children down to sleep. Scientists said the remaining deaths could be caused by a variety of factors ranging from smoking to viral or bacterial infections.
