A man has died following following a road traffic collision this morning on the Mullingar road outside Kells.

The 46-year-old van driver was killed at 10.30am after his vehicle collided with a lorry at Lynch's Cross on the Mullingar road in Johnsbrook. He was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to Navan Hospital. A post mortem into the death is to be arranged.

The 66-year-old lorry driver was also taken to Navan Hospital but with non life-threatening injuries.

Forensic Collision Investigators are expected to arrive at the scene this afternoon and the road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
