Christians in Science (CiS) is an international network of people interested in the relationship between science and faith. CiS Ireland holds regular meetings, including the God and Science lectures in various locations in Ireland, and meetings are open to all who have a genuine interest in science-faith issues. It also organises the annual ETS Walton Lecture on Science and Religion. The April lecture entitled Theistic Evolution and the Fall, by Stephen Williams, Professor of Systematic Theology, Union Theological College, Belfast, takes place on April 18th from 7.30-9.30pm, in The Hub, 22 Elmwood Avenue Belfast.
The Irish Methodist Youth and Children's Department (IMYC) is hosting child protection training evenings in both Dublin and Belfast. The IMYC trainers are Rev Dr David Rock and Nicky Blair, all are welcome and no booking is required. The Methodist Church in Ireland is committed to encouraging all people to grow in their discipleship and further develop their ministry skills and, like other churches, requires that ordained ministers and lay workers undertake courses, training and professional development as part of Continuing Ministry Development (CMD). The latest seminar entitled Data Protection, Copyright, and all that..., a collaboration between Edgehill College and Irish Methodist Youth and Children's Department, is open to ordained ministers, probationers, and to lay workers employed in any capacity in the life of the church. Spring Swell, run by the Surf Project is a weekend aimed at bringing young people together for fun, surfing and an opportunity to learn more about God in an unforced, creative and culturally relevant way. Spring Swell is open to all young people aged 12+ from any group or organisation regardless of their background and ethnic diversity. The weekend is a packed one, with surf lessons, food, "living life to the full" workshops, activities, late-night entertainment, chill-out time and more. It takes place in Portrush from Friday, April 22nd, to Sunday, April 24th, and while Spring Swell is now fully booked, places remain for the Summer and Autumn Swells.
