There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.National broadcaster NHK said the earthquake had anestimated magnitude of 5.6 on Richter scale and hit with anintensity of around six on the Japanese scale of seven in someareas of Miyagi prefecture in northeastern Japan.

NHK said there was no concern of tsunamis.
