A Dublin college student who was stopped at the airport boarding a flight to Amsterdam with currency worth £100,000 has been jailed for 15 months by Judge Yvonne Murphy.

Robert Kennedy (24), of Belgard Heights, Tallaght, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to handling money knowing it was the proceeds of drug-trafficking on May 13th, 1999.

Kennedy, a media production student at the Dublin Institute of Technology, told the court he made a severe error of judgment.
