Bewley's is to support coffee producers of the Third World by buying directly from a small rural co operative in Central America. Bewley's Direct will be available in both Pourover and Thermo Coffee Brewer formats. Experience elsewhere in Europe had shown that there was a significant market for "fairly traded coffee", Bewley's said in a statement.
A Christian Aid survey had shown that 68 per cent of consumers were prepared to pay more for fairly traded coffee.
