Dublin's Four Courts have reopened after a bomb alert this morning.

Army bomb disposal experts and gardaí were in attendance after the discovery of a suspect package by a member of staff shortly before 8.30 a.m.

The building was evacuated and the area was sealed off with traffic diverted from Inns Quay.

The package, which was discovered at the main entrance to the Four Courts, was initially examined by robot and later declared a hoax.

The quays have reopened and staff and the public are now being readmitted.

The courts reopened today following the Easter recess.
