Sarajevo - An indicted war criminal offered to give himself up to peacekeeping troops in Bosnia but was released because international prosecutors failed to inform NATO of his status, an alliance spokesman said yesterday.
The NATO-led Stabilisaton Force (Sfor) confirmed a report that Mr Miroslav Bralo, a Croat wanted for war crimes, had turned himself in to Dutch troops in Vitez last July. Sfor officers asked the Sarajevo office of the UN tribunal about Mr Bralo and officials there said they were not aware of any indictment against him, a spokesman, Maj Peter Clarke, said.
