Inner-city Dublin teenagers yesterday painted a life-size fibreglass cow "with issues" which will be auctioned to raise funds for their "after-schools" project for children at risk.

The cow, part of the continuing CowParade art project, highlights social problems experienced by families in the Sheriff Street area of the inner city.

It is decorated with small symbols including guns, marijuana plants, syringes, cigarettes, knives, alcohol bottles and clenched fists inside "No" symbols of a red circle with a diagonal line through them.

Dublin singer Gavin Friday and Andrea Corr from The Corrs yesterday helped paint the bovine sculpture with 10 teenagers from the Sheriff Street After Schools Education and Support Programme which organises homework supervision, sports, drama, drugs awareness and club activities.
