Eoin McNamee was born in Kilkeel, Co Down in 1961. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin. His first book, The Last of Deeds, was shortlisted for The Irish Times Irish Literature Prize for Fiction in 1989. His other works include Resurrection Man, which was made into a film, and a book of poetry The Language of Birds. The Blue Tango is also on the long-list for this year's Booker Prize. He lives in Sligo.
