Three car bombs killed 64 people in Iraq today.
The first suicide car bomber hit Iraqi soldiers in a part of Baghdad where Sunni Arab insurgents have been active.
One police source said at least 25 people were killed, although emergency teams were prevented reaching all the casualties because of the threat from rebels.
In Tal Afar, a town in the northwest near the Syrian border that was object of a major Iraqi and US offensive against insurgents last month, a car bomb exploded in a market, killing at least 30 people, an Interior Ministry source said.
In a third attack, a suicide car bomb explodes at a checkpoint in Baghdad, killing nine Iraqis and wounding 11.
The bombings came days before a referendum on a constitution that has divided the nation along sectarian lines.
