Three people have been killed on the roads so far this weekend.
An 80-year-old male pedestrian died after being struck by a car near Emyvale, Co. Monaghan shortly before 5.30pm yesterday evening. He was pronounced dead at scene.
The female driver of the car was not injured.
A man in his 20s died yesterday morning after a collision between a car and a van in Dublin.
The crash happened at Castlecurragh Rd, Blanchardstown at 9.20am and the drivers of both vehicles were brought to James Connolly Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead a short time later while the van driver remains in a serious condition.
A woman died following a car crash near Oranmore, Co Galway yesterday.
The woman, 26, was a passenger in one of two cars involved in the crash on the N18 outside Galway city.
Two men in the car, the driver and another passenger, were taken to University College Hospital Galway (UCHG) where their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
