Three men arrested over Co Down robbery

Three men are being questioned tonight after a security guard was robbed at knifepoint in Co Down.

Three men are being questioned tonight after a security guard was robbed at knifepoint in Co Down.

Police said a man wearing a fluorescent jacket threatened the guard as he was making a cash delivery to a grocery store on Hill Street, Newry.

The suspect grabbed the cash box and made off in a silver Peugeot, driven by a second man, shortly before 10am.

The car was later found abandoned on the Craigmore Road and the stolen cash box was also recovered.

Three men, aged 27, 28 and 32 years-of-age were arrested on suspicion of robbery a short time later after the PSNI stopped a red Rover car on the Belfast Road.
