Three men are due in court this morning after an attack in Derry city at the weekend left a man with critical injuries.
The men are charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and are due to appear before the Derry Magistrates Court.
The charges follow an incident in the Rosemount Avenue area of the city last Saturday night when a gang attacked and injured a man.
The victim remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, a man was left with a broken jaw after he was brutally assaulted by five men in Derry, police said today.
The victim, who is in his late 20s, was punched and kicked by the gang at the Woodburn traffic lights in the Waterside area of the city.
Police have yet to establish a motive for the incident, which happened around 12.40am on the Dungiven Road near Erne Gardens.
A PSNI spokesman said: "The man was taken to hospital with injuries, including facial injuries and a broken jaw, consistent with a severe assault."
One of the attackers is described as in his mid-20s, 5ft 11in, with short dark hair and Indian ink on his hands.
The second is in his early 20s, of similar height, of stocky build with short fair hair. Both were wearing green football tops, which are not thought to be Celtic shirts.
Police said the third suspect was 20, 5ft 10in, of stocky build and was wearing a brown jacket.
No descriptions are available for the fourth and fifth men.
