Police have begun a triple murder inquiry after the bodies of a mother and her two young daughters were found in a house in east London.

Officers broke into their terraced house in East Ham on Wednesday and found their bodies in a bedroom.

Postmortems found that one of the victims, a five-year-old, was strangled and her sister, aged six, died from a head injury. More tests were needed to find out how their mother (26) died.

A relative alerted the police after she was unable to contact the mother for some days.
