Ellicott City - A Maryland judge yesterday was expected to begin hearing testimony on the question of whether Ms Linda Tripp could be prosecuted under the state's wiretap law for secretly recording a phone conversation with Ms Monica Lewinsky.
Ms Tripp's recordings of conversations with the former White House intern set in motion the events that led to President Clinton's impeachment in the US House of Representatives.
