Second Division Barnsley have sacked manager Steve Parkin. The former Rochdale boss took over at Oakwell from Nigel Spackman last November but failed to prevent the South Yorkshire club from being relegated.
The Tykes, who are in administration, have won only four of their opening 13 games of the new campaign with the 4-1 home defeat by Bristol City on Saturday apparently the final straw for chairman John Dennis.
