Tullow Oil announced today that test drilling at its Ugandan operation shows the Waraga-1 well is capable of pumping oil at a rate of 4,200 barrels per day.
The tests at the Waraga-1 test site in Uganda found deposits of "light but waxy" oil with a low gas to oil ratio. Pressure build-up tests indicate good permeability, the company said.
Tullow is preparing to test two shallower oil-bearing sites - the first of which will commence later this week - before moving to the Mputa location.
