Two people have been killed and three hurt in Co Carlow when a car crashed into a tree overnight.

Two people have been killed and three hurt in Co Carlow when a car crashed into a tree overnight.

The collision happened at around 1 a.m. on Main Street in the village of Clonegal.

Fire crews from Tullow and Ambulances from Carlow and Wexford attended the scene.

Mr Dan Hunt (29) and 16-year-old Thomas McDonald both from Tullow, Co Carlow were named by the Garda as the deceased.

The injured - all male - were taken to hospital in Wexford for treatment of minor injuries.
