Two guilty of phone card fraud

Two men who defrauded Telecom Eireann of £132,000 by cloning telephone cards have been remanded for sentence by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. John Veldman, of Tonlagee Avenue, Coolock, and Ken Parkes, of Thorndale Grove, Artane, pleaded guilty to obtaining cheques under false pretences with intent to defraud Telecom Eireann (now Eircom plc) on dates in 1997 and 1998.

Judge Elizabeth Dunne adjourned sentencing until June 14th and remanded both men on continuing bail.
