Gardaí last night arrested two men in Co Meath in a follow-up raid to a major weekend drugs operation.
Around two kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value in the region of €150,000, around €20,000 in cash and a quantity of drugs-related paraphernalia were recovered in the latest search at Balreask, outside Navan.
The men, both in their 40s and from Navan, were arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
They are being detained at Kells Garda Station and can be held for questioning for up to seven days.
Five men appeared in court on Monday in connection with a series of Garda raids across Co Meath over the weekend during which cocaine, cannabis and heroin worth over €1.5 million were seized.
Six handguns, two rifles, a pump action shotgun, ammunition and balaclavas were discovered in follow-up operations.
Four of the five were arrested in relation to the seizure of drugs outside Athboy on Saturday, as part of a Garda operation involving local gardaí and the Garda National Drugs Unit. The fifth man was arrested in Trim.
All five were remanded in custody to appear before Trim District Court on Friday.
A sixth man arrested in connection with the raids has been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Another man was arrested in when a drugs-mixing operation was discovered at a house in Liscarton, a mile outside Navan, on Monday. He was also freed and a file on his case is to be sent to the DPP.
