A man was badly beaten in what police described as a paramilitary-style attack in Bangor, Co Down last night, while a teenage boy was shot in the leg in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim.
The first victim was dragged from his house in Ballydown Gardens and hit around the head, arms and legs by a gang of five men.
The assailants then escaped in the direction of Owenroe Drive.
There were no arrests and the motive for the attack is unknown.

In the second attack, a 16-year-old boy was confronted by two masked men in an alleyway at the rear of Carnhall Walk in Carrickfergus.
He was shot once in the right leg before the attackers escaped.
