Two Palestinians were killed in a West Bank blast today that witnesses said was caused by an air strike and Israeli military sources suggested was the accidental detonation of explosives they were carrying.
Body parts were scattered on the street and buildings damaged in the Palestinian city of Nablus, the witnesses said.
Some of the witnesses said the blast was caused by an Israeli air strike on a car, while others reported the men were picking up boxes of explosives from a cart that detonated prematurely. Israel denied any involvement.
The identities of the two dead men, whose bodies were blown apart, were not immediately known. A third man was seriously hurt in the explosion.
