Two men are being questioned about the discovery of a mortar bomb in Co Louth over the weekend.

Two men are being questioned about the discovery of a mortar bomb in Co Louth over the weekend.

The men were detained at a house in Hackballscross at about 1pm on Saturday following searches of the premises and a number of nearby buildings.

The two men are in their 50s and are being detained at Balbriggan and Drogheda Garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
