Washington - US Army Secretary, Mr Thomas White yesterday said he will fight any Pentagon move to cut his 480,000 troops, but that some of the 65,000 soldiers in Europe will likely be shifted to the Asia-Pacific region.

White said military equipment stationed in Europe for an army combat brigade was already being moved to Asia as part of a new Bush administration strategy. And he suggested troops were likely to follow.
