The US embassy in Kuwait has warned Americans of possible attacks in the the pro-Western Gulf Arab state.
"Terrorists do not distinguish between official and civilian targets. Terrorist actions may include bombings, hijackings, hostage taking, kidnappings and assassinations," said an advisory posted on the embassy Web site on Saturday.
The warning updated a similar advisory issued in January in Kuwait, which hosts some 30,000 US military and 12,000 US civilians and is a main transit route to neighbouring Iraq.
Kuwait has cracked down on Islamic militants opposing the US military presence in the oil-exporting country, which was the scene of clashes with Islamic militants in early 2005.
