Former Wales captain turned Hollywood movie actor Vinnie Jones is set for a return to football with third division strugglers Carlisle, the club's manager Roddy Collins confirmed today.
The former Leeds, Wimbledon and Chelsea player has agreed to play for Carlisle in a friendly match with Shelbourne at Tolka Park in eight days time.
The 36-year-old midfielder is a friend of Dubliner Collins. The manager is keen to sign Jones until the end of the season.
"Vinnie has agreed to play next week," Collins told the Carlisle website.
"We will assess his fitness and see how he feels about signing for us for the rest of the season.
"I spoke to him this morning and he is certainly up for next week's game, then we'll take it from there."
Jones, who became infamous in English football for his hard tackling and appalling disciplinary record, last worked in football as player-coach for second division Queens Park Rangers.
