London - Waterloo station's owners waded into a verbal battle over the famous rail station's provocative name yesterday, declaring "the war is over" and opposing a French call to rename it.
"Let's face it, we have a place named Battle which marks a victory by the Normans. As far as we are concerned, the war is over," a spokesman for Railtrack told the London Times.
