Iarnrod Eireann
As customers return to increased levels of rail services, Iarnrod Eireann has announced a series of special fares for customers on routes affected by the disruption this summer, with some fares cut by more than half.
Day return fares on the Cork, Sligo, Galway, Limerick, Westport, Rosslare and Tralee routes will be reduced. The offer covers travel from Tuesdays to Thursdays throughout September. Details of weekend train services may be obtained on 1850366 222.
Dublin
AA Roadwatch says Temple ogue Road will be closed from its junctions with Terenure Road West and Fortfield Road from Sunday to Thursday next from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Traffic from Ter enure, Rathgar and Rathfarnham will be diverted via Terenure Road West, Fortfield Road and Templeogue Road. Traffic from Templeogue Road will be diverted via Fortfield Road, Terenure Road West to Terenure Cross.
Full local and pedestrian access will be maintained. The closure will also be in operation from September 10th to September 14th, and from September 17th to September 21st.
A protest march will take place on Saturday involving about 500 participants from the Garden of Remembrance at Parnell Square at 2.30 p.m. to Leinster House.
Until September 11th, the ESB will be carrying out works from Merrion Row to Merrion Place, from Schoolhouse Lane to St Stephen's Green, from Kildare Street to Upper Merrion Street and from the ESB sub-station to Kildare Street. Traffic on Drumcondra Road will be diverted via Ormond Road.
Cork
Watergate Street will close near the Cork Road junction in Bandon at the weekends, including September 2nd-4th, 9th-12th and 16th-18th. Alternative routes suggested are via Kilbeg and Innishannon and via Kilbeg and Kilpatrick. Next week, the Bailick Road (R630) in Midleton will be closed from the Dark Road to Whitegate Road until September 11th for pipe-laying.
Kildare
Due to roadworks associated with the N9 Moone-Timolin-Baltimore bypass, traffic-calming measures will be in operation from next week until November, on the N9 between Cookstown service station and the village of Timolin.
Dublin Airport
More than 198,000 people are expected to pass through Dublin airport this weekend. Three hundred charter flights have been added to the normal schedule with the Canary Islands, Spain, Turkey, Tunisia and Greece proving to be the most popular destinations. Some 1,500 flights will use Dublin airport during this time. Saturday will be busiest as Aer Rianta expects to handle more than 70,000 passengers.
Road Deaths
There were six deaths on the roads in the past week, bringing the number this year to 265.
