Gardai are seeking witnesses to a drowning which happened early last Thursday morning in Dublin city centre.

Anybody who was in the area of Aston Quay between O'Connell Street and the Ha'penny Bridge between 2 a.m. and 3.30 a.m. on Thursday, and who may have witnessed a man falling into the river, is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda station (telephone 01-6775908).

Gardai say they are particularly anxious to speak to a man who hailed a passing taxi driver to raise the alarm.
