A woman who has been charged in connection with the discovery of a man's body outside a block of flats in Galway city last December has been further remanded on bail while gardaí await the directions of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the matter.

Una Black (24), who now lives with her mother at Bishop O'Donnell Road, Galway, is charged with assault, causing serious harm to John Malone (42) at Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, Galway, on December 3rd.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded Ms Black on continuing bail to appear before the court again on May 23rd for the DPP's directions.

The body of Mr Malone, a native of Co Offaly, was found by neighbours slumped in a doorway leading to one of the four blocks of flats in Mervue at 5.45am on December 3rd. He had been stabbed a number of times in the upper body.
