Woman killed and 8 hurt in Co Carlow crash

A woman was killed in Co Carlow early this morning after the car she was driving was in collision with a mini-bus.

A woman was killed in Co Carlow early this morning after the car she was driving was in collision with a mini-bus.

Seven people travelling in the mini-bus and a passenger in the car were taken to hospital in Kilkenny after the crash at 2.15 a.m. in Leighlinbridge, on the Carlow to Waterford Road. They are believed to have suffered only minor injuries.

The female driver of the car, who was in her early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, gardai said. Her remains were taken to Carlow hospital where a post mortem will be carried out today.
