Police have opened a murder inquiry after officers investigating the disappearance of a missing woman in Co Antrim discovered a body in a shallow grave.
It is believed to be that of Ms Julie Tennant (21), from Mount Street, Ballymena, Co Antrim, who was last seen by her parents at the family home at 12.15 a.m. on August 5th. Ms Tennant suffered from depression and had left home without her medication, money or spare clothing.
There were subsequent sightings of her between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. in William Street, Broughshane Street and Suffolk Street in Ballymena town centre. It is understood she was in the company of a group of men in a house in William Street and then left with one man and went to another house in Warden Street.
This house was sealed and forensically investigated by police on Tuesday, and a man whom they had earlier interviewed in connection with Ms Tennant's disappearance was arrested in Dover on Wednesday night.
The police search shifted yesterday to a forest near Broughshane, Co Antrim, and around noon, officers from the RUC Mountain Rescue team discovered a body in a shallow grave in undergrowth just off the Tullymore road.
It is understood the man arrested earlier was brought to the crime scene.
