Police have confirmed Bob Woolmer's body will be returned to his family in South Africa today with murder investigators planning to travel to Cape Town early next month.

Deputy Commissioner of Jamaica police Mark Shields this week revealed his team are happy they have no further use for the 58-year-old Englishman's body following more than a month of tests.

An inquest into the Pakistan coach's death, due to start on Monday this week, was last week postponed indefinitely due to "significant developments".

And police spokesman Karl Angell said: "The body will be repatriated today and a team from the Jamaican constabulary will be going to South Africa in early May."

Woolmer was found dead in his Jamaican hotel room on March 18th, the day after Pakistan had been eliminated from the World Cup, and a post-mortem indicated he had been strangled.

A coroner's inquest had been set for this week in Kingston but was put back indefinitely following a statement from the Jamaican government.

The statement did not give details of the developments but came just days after police revealed they had received results of toxicology tests on the body.

"The coroner has been advised there are recent and significant developments," the Jamaican justice ministry said.

"These new developments are critical to the progress and the eventual result of the investigation."
