Birmingham Airport resumes operations after technical fault

Flights had been temporarily suspended over issue with air traffic control

Birmingham Airport has resumed operations after a technical glitch temporarily grounded flights.

Staff said the disruption began at around 6pm and was cleared around two hours later.

A spokesman said: “Following the earlier air traffic control technical fault, Birmingham Airport has now resolved the issue and operations have now resumed.

“We thank passengers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.”

The incident came the same week as the Gatwick Airport fiasco, where roughly 140,000 passengers were affected when a drone was spotted around the runway, forcing bosses to ground flights across three days. – PA
