Gardai have released without charge a 17-year-old youth who was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of another youth in north Dublin on Sunday morning. A Garda spokesman said a file was being prepared for the DPP.
Mr Jonathan Durren (18), Dublin Street, Baldoyle, died in a house in Bayside Square East, Sutton after an altercation involving two other youths.
According to gardaí, the three had returned to the house at about 2 a.m. after a night out. There appeared to have been an argument over what music they would play.
Gardaí were called to the house at about 3.30 a.m., where they found two injured youths and the dead man. The youths were taken to Beaumont Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.
Mr Durren was pronounced dead at the scene at 4.30 a.m. and his body was taken to Beaumont Hospital. It was later moved to Dublin City Morgue, where Deputy State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy was carrying out a post mortem last night.
The scene of the incident was sealed off yesterday and a Garda forensic team carried out an investigation of the house.
The 17-year-old was arrested at 6 a.m. on Sunday and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. He was held at Raheny Garda station for 12 hours.Gardaí said they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the death.
