Sir, – Jennifer O’Connell was quoted €435 for a room for one night in Dublin (Opinion & Analysis, June 25th). Thank goodness the Government had the foresight to cut the VAT from 13.5 per cent to 9 per cent or that room would have cost €453. That €18 difference will allow you to buy a cup of tea or – a scone. – Yours, etc,
