A chara, – The UK ambassador’s letter (Letters, September 19th) was gracious and well-ordered, but one sentence ruined it: “And I know from talking to the prime minister and other UK ministers in recent days how focused they are on this uniquely close and important relationship.”
The ambassador should have stuck to the royal family. UK ministers might, indeed, be “focused” on the relationship with Ireland, but not for the reasons he intimates, as every news report since 2016 has made abundantly clear. – Is mise,
