Sir, – Although I considered it to be the wrong policy, I admired Liz Truss for acting on her conviction that reducing the top rate of tax was essential to her growth strategy.
I am astonished that she has abandoned that policy after it was criticised by senior Tory Michael Gove.
If she truly believes that it is the best policy for her country, which she confirmed as recently as last Sunday, surely it is worth defending. – Yours, etc,
