Sir, – My father, sadly deceased last April 2022, received to his address a letter from Electric Ireland dated October 5th, 2022, demanding payment of an electricity bill issued by them on September 19th, 2022, but not received in the house until a week later. This was signed (a facsimile signature of course) by the payments manager, Electric Ireland.
I followed this up. After holding on a line for 40 minutes, I eventually got through to a company representative. He was very courteous and professional, and I commend him for that, but he could not offer any explanation as to why Electric Ireland was sending out a nasty letter for a bill which was paid via Visa Debit on September 27th as soon as the bill had been received.
When I asked him how I could talk to someone in Electric Ireland about this to register a complaint, I was given the address of “Electric Ireland, PO Box 841, South City Delivery Office, Togher, Cork”.
So, the hope of actually talking to somebody in Electric Ireland about this issue is replaced by writing to a post box office number. – Yours, etc,
