A chara, – The news of Ryan Tubridy stepping down as presenter of RTÉ's The Late Late Show is disappointing as it marks the end of an era. His predecessor Pat Kenny did a good job of filling the shoes of his predecessor, the late and great Gay Byrne.
The Late Late Show brings back memories from my childhood that I hold dearly. My parents finishing work on a Friday evening and bringing home “the goodies” from the local shop. Sitting down by the fire as Gaybo fired another one for all the audience.
Ryan Tubridy has done a great job, all in all, providing a safe, non-judgmental space for difficult interviews, advocating for national icons and giving them their due appreciation, as well as supporting the arts, something that is dear to him.
He and his staff have given opportunities and platforms to many people to discuss important issues. His Late Late Toy Shows were a huge success, with heartwarming moments that would bring a tear to your eye. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Best of luck to Ryan Tubridy as he steps down as host of The Late Late Show. It has been a good journey but definitely time for this programme to change format and host. Something new is badly needed! – Yours, etc,
