Sir, – Further to Patsy McGarry’s thought-provoking column that reflected on the word Windsor, as in the knot, and the latest solution to Northern Ireland’s protocol problem of the same name, I am once again back as a little boy in those Northern parts (In a word... Windsor”, Culture, April 8th).
The alternative to tying your school tie with a Windsor knot went by the nickname of the more staunch Ulster “tea drinker’s knot”.
It amuses me to think that herein might lie part of the problem for the DUP.
Is it possible that “the tea drinker’s framework” may have rung more acceptable to the powers that be, and in keeping with their party image? – Yours, etc,
