Sir, – I refer to the article “Arrival of summer tourism season puts renewed focus on accommodation” (News, May 9th).
As about a third of hotel beds are now taken up by refugees, this is having a major impact on the ability of tourists like myself to secure reasonably priced accommodation in Ireland.
Does the Government not have a plan to address this issue regarding the housing of refugees in non-hotel accommodation or building new hotels to address the shortfall?
I, along with many other potential tourists, have had no alternative but to book a cheaper holiday to another European country, thereby affecting tourism revenue in Ireland. – Yours, etc,
