Sir, – I couldn’t agree more with Niamh Byrne (Letters, “Leaving Cert media hype is not helpful”, June 7th) in how she profiles the “turmoil” of the Leaving Cert for today’s students.
I did my Leaving Cert well over half a century ago, in an era that did not have the systems and contrivances to induce the hype and pressure that now confront students, and I still get nightmarish flashbacks of those June days in 1969.
My empathy and best wishes are with all who traipse through the hype to exam halls over the next three weeks. Thankfully, there is life after the Leaving, loads of it! – Yours, etc,
