Sir, – Cornelius Logue (Letters, June 8th), seeking action rather than planning when it comes to connecting Dublin Airport to the city centre by better public transport, reminds me of an old saying attributed to Aesop. “When all is said and done, more is said than done.” – Yours, etc,

Sir, – With all the debate regarding the exchequer surplus, why the silence on spending some of this on the much-needed Metro to Dublin Airport? – Yours, etc,
MARY YOUNG,

Sir, – Earlier this year, the DAA had been proposing a drop-off/pick-up charge on drivers dropping off or collecting passengers to or from Dublin Airport. Disincentivising the use of personal vehicles, as part of the DAA’s wider sustainability agenda, would result in the more efficient use of the airport’s road network, it was explained. Except that such intending passengers are now “encouraged to consider” being dropped off by a friend or relative.
Just a case of should have seen it coming, I guess. – Yours, etc,
