Sir, – Eirgrid has published a guide that tells us, their customers, what to expect from it and what it would like to provide for us. They have noticed an increasing number of “System Alerts” on the electricity system reaching the point where they have begun taking additional actions to protect security of supply.
Apparently Eirgrid understands the importance of learning from stakeholder feedback in influencing their engagement strategy and plans! They claim to be trying to find the best technology options but, whether they like it or not, are forced to omit nuclear from consideration by Government policy.
Their guide, called “Have Your Say”, is thus irrelevant for those who realise that we need a proportion of nuclear energy on the grid. As Eirgrid is forced by Government policy to omit all discussion of the developing small reactors, how will its policy decisions be based on a detailed analysis of our feedback on this developing energy? – Yours, etc,
