A chara, – In the context of the debate around fee-paying schools it is often pointed out that parents who send their children to fee-charging schools are subsiding the overall cost of education across the State.
I was starting to think that the rest of us should express our thanks in some way but perhaps the economic and social advantages conferred on this small minority might be considered by them to be thanks enough. This debate should not be one about money and costs alone.
Our education system should treat every child equally and every child should be afforded an opportunity to reach their potential regardless of the financial means of their parents. You simply can’t put a price on that. – Yours, etc,
