Sir, – Electric Ireland has announced a welcome price reduction (“Electric Ireland announces price cuts of up to 8 per cent for more than one million customers”, News, January 15th).

Unfortunately, media outlets continue to report price increases or decreases in percentages. It would be very much more helpful if media outlets were to report price changes in euros or cents and what the supplier’s new unit price will be.

This way of reporting price changes would enable consumers to easily compare prices between the various suppliers and then decide who is offering the best deal. – Yours, etc,
