Sir, – I wonder if other daily readers of The Irish Times have a particular system when reading the newspaper.
I start with the top left-hand corner of the back page to check if anyone I knew is mentioned. Then I read the inside back page with the births, marriages and deaths. This is always followed by my favourite page, the letters page. I then read random articles which catch my eye and which I have not heard covered earlier on the radio news.
Finally I keep the Simplex crossword until the evening, after which time the newspaper is ready for recycling. – Yours, etc,
LAURA O’MARA,
